Fees are calculated on a "pay-as-you-sell" basis, meaning that you pay a commission of 12% on the sale of the item with a minimum commission of £0.30. Basically, if you don't sell anything you don't pay anything. Unlike some marketplaces we don't charge a monthly fee or indeed a listing fee! You will need a PayPal account to receive the monies from each sale and PayPal does charge for this so make sure you’re aware of their fees too.
How much does PayPal charge per transaction?
PayPal’s charges do vary so please make sure you check on their website. Here’s a link to their fees.
How will buyers contact me?
There is a ‘message’ function on each product page and the sellers listing page. We ask that you make sure you get back to all buyers as quickly as possible as we believe swift responses lead to better relationships and great seller feedback
Is there a limit to the number of products I can list?
There’s no official limited but what we always say is quality is better than quantity.

When listing your first item on GardenTags Market you will be asked to connect your PayPal account to start receiving funds from each purchase made through GardenTags Market. If you don’t set this up you will not be able to receive the proceeds from any sale.
How do I collect my payment?
Payment is not automatic. Payment will only be made when you ‘accept’ a purchaser’s request to buy the item i.e. the buyer selects ‘buy’ and completes the PayPal process. As soon as this happens you will get a message from GardenTags Market letting you know that someone wants to buy your item. As soon as you accept this the money goes into your PayPal account. If you don’t accept this transaction within three days the monies go back to the purchaser and the transaction is void…Make sure you check your messages from GardenTags Market so you don’t miss out on valuable sale!
How do I make a refund to a customer?
From time to time it will be necessary for you to refund the customer. We recommend that to keep customers happy your refunds are swift and courteous particularly because they can leave a review about their buying experience. Please also make sure that you show your returns policy on each of the items listed.
A buyer needs to contact you through the messaging facility on the app to request a refund. When they do this you will get a message from the buyer. GardenTags Market do not process the refunds it is your responsibility to do this through PayPal. You can find more information on how to do this on the PayPal site here.
What are the photo requirements?
We always say the more photos the better. So please make them good quality so that they reflect what your product looks like in the flesh. GardenTags Market accepts most image sizes but for the optimal user experience we recommend adding pictures that are 900x600 pixels.
How do I specify postage costs?
When you list each new product it will ask you what the shipping costs are. Please make sure you add this in. We understand that some business do not charge if the item is over a certain price. If this is the case please put 0 in the shipping fee.
What if the buyer purchases multiple items from my products listed? Do they pay the shipping cost on each item?
At the moment they will pay the shipping cost of each item. We do recognise that multiple items when shipped together result in the shipping costs being less. If this is the case we recommend that you message the buyer and process a refund of the difference in shipping paid to the actual cost to you through PayPal. You can also make this clear in your product description that you will refund any savings in shipping as a result of multiple purchases. We’re working on a longer term solution for this.
How do I set the quantity of each product?
At this time it is not possible to select the quantity of each product. Because the buyer’s offer to purchase the product has to be accepted by the seller this means that you are not contractually bound to sell the product until you have checked you have enough stock and accepted the transaction. That said we would like the purchaser to have a good experience so we recommend that you set an expiry on the product so that it doesn’t remain up indefinitely. We are looking to add a stock feature later on down the line. If you find yourself out of stock please let the buyer know and recommend an alternative product they may like.
How do I resolve a dispute with a buyer?
All sellers are bound by the Consumer Contracts regulations these apply to sales of goods or services to consumers without face-to-face contact. So a buyer can return an item for a full refund within the 14 day window. We urge you to work directly with the buyer to resolve any disputes. If the product is eligible it will be covered by PayPal Buyer Protection so the buyer can raise a dispute with them to resolve any issue. If you feel that a buyer is abusive then please report this to us so we can take further action if required.
Who pays for postage if a buyer wants to return and item?
EU sellers will be expected to refund the outbound postage but if the item was defective or not as described then the seller would be expected to refund the cost to return the item as well.
